Fist Day of School Blues

Yes I'm alive, and yes, I'm still kicking, literally, tonight I have another game......
Yes, I've been sparse in the bloggerhood. I've been busy, really busy, especially at work where I happen to have a faster Internet connection than at home. Ben just got back from another trip to Dubai. He brought me home some of those fleece lined Crocs. Apparently he knows I like to be warm, hey ladies, I guess they can be taught but I think there are limits.
Madison and Tyler had their first day of school tomorrow. I had a break down. My mother always had new backpacks, shoes and outfits for us on the first day of school. Yeah, I didn't have it that together this year. I dropped the ball, big time! Then, later when I was talking to my newly arrived hubby, he asked if I had given the kids lunch money......NOPE, forgot that one too. MORE TEARS. Sometimes I wonder how I've gotten them this far in life......

When I picked up the kids from the babysitter I asked then how their day had gone. Let me tell you up front that it wasn't nearly as bad for them as it was for me. They weren't traumatized with out new back packs, and they both had a hot lunch, chicken nuggets, a bread stick, an apple and chocolate milk, not the cheese sandwich I envisioned.

My one happy thought to myself at the end of my work day before picking up the kids was, well at least I've given them something to improve upon, they can be perfect in being ready for the first day of school even though I wasn't........
Oh yeah, I forgot lunch money again today but remembered to call the babysitter and have her hand some out......

You are always going to take this kind of thing much harder than the kids! Don't stress!!

I agree with Tiff. Some things are a much bigger deal to you than the kids. And if it makes you feel any better I was no better prepared for Zoey's first day of preschool. She had to remind me twice to make her lunch.

Don't worry Nicole you are a good Mom. It is so hard to be a "working" out of the house Mom. Glad you all are going shopping tonight!! =)

After raising 7 kids, this I know...
It's not about lunch money or new backpacks. It's about taking the time to listen to them about their first day of school and find out all the particulars, like nuggets and chocolate milk. I'm sure your kids are very happy to have you as their mom. ;o)
